ART

I am currently in Siena Italy, until we move to Florence on Saturday. I have been here for nearly two weeks and didn't bother checking out some of the art museums and historic architecture here. So today, I solved that problem and went on an art museum tour, and can I just say…it was phenomenal. We got to admire Duccio's Maest`a and Donatello's Madonna and Child. We also got to visit the Palazzo Pubblico with Paintings from the 14th Century.  Then we went into a few of the Cathedrals.

It is almost like the people of ancient Italy told their story through art. Various depictions of the Sienese government, the Catholic religion, and the way of living back then were shown.

Fresco was one of the most common types of  art I saw throughout the tour. (From what I learned today, Fresco is a very bold gold material made of crush gold.) It’s absolutely gorgeous. I still find it fascinating how they manage to preserve the art hundreds of years after it was created.

Now, I’m no artist, but I have definitely grown a greater appreciation for it after this tour. We were not allowed to take “FLASH” photography, so I did the best I could without using my flash.
